Dublin-based French artist Mathieu channels the Hero's Journey into his most cinematic

track yet.

Recording under the name PRTLND (pronounced Portland), French-born, Dublin-based musician releases his second single of 2026, a driving anthem about the one battle every person eventually faces: the war with their own fear.

Inspired by Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey, the song builds on a simple premise: we are

all born with innate potential, born golden, and pushing through fear leads to something

beautiful. The dragon you have to slay, it turns out, is yourself.Sonically, crunchy distorted guitars anchor a melodic synth riff with an eighties feel, rooted in nineties rock touchstones (Oasis, Radiohead) with a modern production edge. A driving song, introspective but empowering.

Written for anyone stuck in the wrong job, the wrong relationship, or paralysed by the gap

between who they are and who they could be. The age on your passport is not the point.

The pull you feel is.

"The Hero's Journey isn't a myth," says PRTLND. "It's Tuesday morning when you decide to

stop waiting."
